Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 10, 2026
Welcome to Salvus (“we,” “our,” “us”). These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Salvus mobile application and related services (the “Service”). By installing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Salvus is operated by an individual: Toncho Lozev, Simeonovsko Shose 173, Sofia 1434, Bulgaria.
1. Eligibility & Accounts
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
- You may use the Service with an anonymous Firebase account or sign in with Apple or Google. If you link a third-party sign-in, you authorize us to receive an authentication token and a unique identifier for account management.
2. Safety Notice
Do not interact with the app while operating a vehicle. Safety alerts and risk-zone warnings are delivered as passive audible/visual notifications and are designed to be understood without tapping, typing, or otherwise handling your device while driving. Use the Service responsibly and comply with all traffic laws.
Salvus is a supplementary, best-effort driving aid — not a safety device, and not a substitute for your own attention, judgment, and lawful driving. It may fail to detect a hazard, may alert late, or may not alert at all. The absence of an alert never means the road ahead is safe. Always drive as though Salvus were not running, and never rely on it to warn you of any particular danger — or of any danger at all.
Subject to sections 11 and 13, and except for any liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law (including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence), we are not responsible for accidents, violations, or damages arising from your use of the Service.
3. Service Overview
- The app monitors your device’s location, heading, and speed to help detect speeding events and notify nearby users.
- Detection is not guaranteed. Live speeding alerts depend on at least one other participating driver being nearby, a working data connection, and adequate GPS accuracy — any of which may be absent. Alerts may be delayed, throttled, suppressed, collapsed, or missed entirely, and the Service may be interrupted or unavailable.
- The app may also warn you as you approach historically dangerous crash locations, based on public, anonymized accident data bundled with the app. These warnings are informational only and are not a substitute for attentive, lawful driving.
- Notifications are throttled to reduce spam; alerts may be delayed, suppressed, or collapsed to improve safety and reduce distraction.
- Speed limits may be determined using third-party data providers and may not be accurate or up to date at all times.
4. Subscriptions, Trials & Billing
- Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Billing and managed via RevenueCat.
- Payment, renewal, refunds, and cancellation policies are governed by the applicable store terms. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your store account settings.
- Salvus does not collect or store your full payment card details; card and billing data are handled by Apple or Google under their terms.
- Deleting the app does not cancel an active subscription — cancel it in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
- A subscription may provide priority access to start a session when free capacity is limited; it does not guarantee that alerts will be delivered or that all dangerous drivers or road risks will be detected.
- If offered, free trials convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends.
- Right of withdrawal. Subscriptions are sold to you by Apple or Google as the seller of record, not by us. Where EU consumer law gives you a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract for digital content, that right is exercised against the store that sold you the subscription, under its terms and refund process — not against us.
- To request a refund or withdrawal, use the store’s process: Apple — reportaproblem.apple.com, or Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions; Google Play — play.google.com/store/account, or the Play Store app. We cannot issue refunds for store purchases, but if you have trouble reaching the right place, contact us at support@salvusmobile.com and we will help.
5. Country-Based Access Limits
The Service may allow free access in a country up to a configurable number of active users. If the limit is exceeded, an active subscription may be required to start a session. We may verify your country using location and/or network signals.
6. License & Acceptable Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial use.
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, copy, or modify the app or its components.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its security features.
- Upload or transmit malicious code.
- Use the Service to stalk, harass, endanger, or otherwise harm others.
- Misrepresent your identity or attempt to circumvent country limits, subscriptions, or rate limits.
7. Notifications & Location Services
- You may receive push notifications, including nearby speeding alerts, accident risk-zone warnings, occasional driving reminders, and Service updates. You can disable push notifications in system settings, though core features may be affected. Disabling notifications means you will not receive safety alerts.
- The app may request access to your device location, including background location. You can revoke permission at any time via system settings; this may disable core functionality.
8. Third-Party Services
We use third parties such as Firebase (authentication, database, crash reporting, push notifications), RevenueCat (subscriptions), Sentry (backend error monitoring), Render (backend hosting), and mapping/speed data providers (e.g., OpenStreetMap). Your use of those services may be subject to their terms and policies. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data each service processes.
9. Intellectual Property
All rights in and to the app, its content, and underlying technology are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights.
10. User Content
You are responsible for any content you submit through the app. You grant us a limited license to use such content as necessary to operate and improve the Service.
11. Your Consumer Rights (Overriding Clause)
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory Bulgarian or EU law, including your statutory conformity rights for digital content and services (Directive (EU) 2019/770, as transposed in the Bulgarian Consumer Protection Act). Where any provision in sections 2 and 12–15 conflicts with those mandatory rights, those rights prevail and the conflicting provision applies only to the extent permitted by law.
12. Disclaimers
Subject to section 11:
- The Service is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind, except for the warranties and conformity guarantees that cannot be excluded under mandatory law.
- We do not warrant that the Service will detect any particular hazard, speeding vehicle, or risk zone, that any alert or warning will be delivered or delivered in time to react, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, available, or error-free.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of speed limits, alerts, or mapping data.
- These disclaimers do not exclude the statutory conformity guarantees that apply to paid digital content and services.
13. Limitation of Liability
Subject to section 11, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
In particular, and subject to section 11, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from (a) your reliance on the Service, or on the presence or absence of any alert or warning; (b) any failure of the Service to detect a hazard, or to deliver — or to deliver in time — any alert or warning; or (c) any inaccuracy or incompleteness in speed limits, alerts, or accident risk-zone data.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory law. This section does not affect your consumer remedies for lack of conformity of paid digital content or services.
14. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, and except as prohibited for consumers under mandatory law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your unlawful use of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service for conduct that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or harms other users, us, or third parties. Except where immediate action is needed for safety, security, or legal reasons, we will give you reasonable notice and, where appropriate, an opportunity to remedy the issue. Termination does not affect consumer rights that have already accrued or any paid-for subscription entitlements, which are handled under section 4 and the applicable store refund rules.
16. Changes to the Service & Terms
We may modify or discontinue the Service, and we may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted in-app or on our website, with the “Last updated” date revised. To keep the Service safe and reliable, continued use may require updating to a minimum supported version of the app; if your version is no longer supported, you may be prompted to update before continuing.
17. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Bulgaria and applicable EU law. As a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and nothing here deprives you of that protection.
Under Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012 (Brussels I recast), as a consumer you may bring proceedings against us in the courts of your country of domicile or in Bulgaria, and we may bring proceedings against you only in the courts of your country of domicile.

Data Sources & Attribution
Salvus is built on open data, and we credit our sources here:
