Salvus (“we,” “our,” “us”) is a mobile application designed to improve road safety by alerting drivers about speeding events nearby. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable laws.

1. Information We Collect

  • Location data: GPS coordinates, speed, and heading.
  • Device information: Device model, OS, app version, Firebase user ID (anonymous or linked to Apple/Google).
  • App usage data: Session timestamps, notification events, crash logs.
  • Subscription data: RevenueCat entitlement status.

We do not collect your name, email, or phone number directly. If you sign in with Apple/Google, only the authentication token and unique identifier are stored.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide the core service: speeding detection and alerts.
  • Determine active user limits by country (free vs subscription access).
  • Improve app performance and detect crashes.
  • Verify and manage subscription status.
  • Comply with legal obligations (GDPR requests).

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We only share with:

  • Firebase (Google LLC): authentication, Firestore, cloud functions, crash reports, push notifications.
  • RevenueCat, Inc.: subscription management.
  • Speed-limit data providers (e.g., OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, HERE, TomTom) for road speed lookups.

4. Data Retention

  • Location presence: up to 10 minutes after last activity.
  • Speed-limit cache: up to 30 days.
  • Cooldown/notification logs: up to 4 hours.
  • Subscription records: as long as legally required.
  • Crash/analytics logs: up to 90 days.

We process data under the following bases:

  • Consent – for background location (explicit in-app permission).
  • Legitimate interest – to provide road safety alerts.
  • Contract – to deliver subscription benefits.
  • Legal obligation – compliance with applicable laws.

6. Your Rights

As an EU user, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your data. You may withdraw consent for background location at any time via device settings. You may also request a copy of your data in portable format.

7. International Transfers

Data may be processed by Firebase or RevenueCat servers outside the EU (e.g., USA), protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

8. Children’s Privacy

Salvus is not intended for children under 16 years. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted in-app and on this page.
